Natures Kiss

Season 3 Episode 5

by Amanda Mackay

In today’s episode of Growing Exposed we will take viewers to Denver, Colorado to visit the aptly named, Broadsterdam district.

We will start at Nature’s Kiss; one of Denver’s pioneer cannabis brands. Competition is fierce in Denver, with over 530 cannabis retail locations crammed into the city. And many of them are right alongside Nature’s Kiss in the Broadsterdam district.

Here we meet Bruce, who started his dream of owning a grow and dispensary all under one roof, 11 years ago with just one light. He shares his story of how he got started in the business and how he’s watched the industry change so drastically over the years.

Justin and Bruce take us inside the grow to take a look at the mother plants and the seedlings. We see how they fuel their plants for maximum growth with Green Planet Nutrients. Nature’s Kiss doesn’t have the biggest of budgets, but what they lack in spending power, they make up for in talent and a dedication to producing the finest quality product. Bruce shares some ways he was able to save money on his grow and how you could too.

We also meet more of the Nature’s Kiss crew and go in depth about the importance of IPM – Integrated Pest Management. It’s best to try to avoid any pests before having to resort to harsh pesticides. We learn about Powdery mildew, or PM, which resembles a light dusting on your leaves or buds. It can pop up quickly and will spread throughout your garden quickly if nothing is done. Spraying weekly and not cross contaminating genetics can help keep bugs out of your garden.

In Teachings of the Garden Sage, David Robinson talks further and in more detail about Integrated Pest Management. He explains how it’s a philosophy of gardening that starts with planning your garden to minimize the risk of pests. The best possible defence is a healthy plant, because healthy plants repel pests and disease. David takes us into his own garden to explain different options that are available for growers.

Back in Colorado, Justin takes time to check out Indo Expo 2020. It’s usually “industry only” but Growing Exposed is giving you an exclusive look inside. We will meet the exhibitors, check out the latest products and talk to some fellow cannabis lovers. We even get a breakdown on the difference between resin and hash from one of the most infamous hash makers in the industry, Frenchy Cannoli.

We wrap up the show back at Nature’s Kiss with an up close look at their award winning bud while getting a lesson in plant pruning. Bruce also explains how Nature’s Kiss also means “Keep It Simple Stupid.” We go inside the dispensary and discuss how legalization has helped regulate the dosage of edibles.

The main message we hope you take from today’s show is that with the right knowledge and passion for the plant, anyone can get started in the Cannabis industry. For more episodes of Growing Exposed, check out growingexposed.com. Thanks for watching!
