Organic Is The Only Way To Grow? – Organic vs. Synthetic Fertilizers

Growing cannabis is a complex and challenging task, and choosing the right fertilizer is an essential part of the process.

The debate over synthetic versus organic fertilizers has been ongoing for years, and it’s a question that many growers are asking themselves.

Is it better to use synthetic fertilizers for quick and consistent results, or is it better to go the organic route for a gentler and healthier approach?

In our synthetic vs. organic fertilizer segment, we met with professional grower David Robinson to discuss the benefits of using organic and synthetic fertilizers in your cannabis grow room to get the best of both worlds.

er Is Right for Me?

When choosing the right fertilizer for cannabis, it’s essential to consider the environmental impact, the health of the plants, and the quality of the final product.

While synthetic fertilizers may be quick and easy to use, they may not be the best choice for growing cannabis if you don’t practice the proper application techniques.

For some growers, the benefits of using organic fertilizers outweigh the disadvantages of using synthetic products. They consider organic fertilizer the best choice for anyone looking to grow high-quality cannabis that is both healthy for the plants and good for the environment.

Ultimately, you may realize that you don’t need to choose between the two. Many growers have success using synthetics using organic fertilizer as a supplement or vice versa. It all depends on your personal preference and plant needs.

Can I Use Synthetic and Organic Fertilizers Together?

Yes, you can use synthetic and organic fertilizers together. This is sometimes referred to as a “hybrid” approach and can provide the benefits of both types of fertilizers.

Combining synthetic fertilizers, which provide quick and consistent results, with organic fertilizers, which promote soil health and better overall plant health, creates a fertilizer blend tailored to your specific growing needs.

David Robinson says, “when you try to grow exclusively organic, we run into micro and major nutrient deficiencies, so it can be necessary to get your main NPK from a chemical fertilizer because the nutrients are readily available.”

However, it’s important to remember that fertilizers have different nutrient profiles and delivery methods. Mixing fertilizers without understanding their individual properties can result in over-fertilization or nutrient imbalances that can harm your plants.

Additionally, using synthetic fertilizers along with organic fertilizers may not eliminate the potential negative effects of synthetic fertilizers on the environment. Whether you use an organic or synthetic fertilizer is a personal decision that requires careful consideration.
